Coor

상징과 은유의 표현을 공간과 무대장치로 만들어 배우들과 극을 극대화했던 건축가이자 무대 디자이너인 스위스의 아돌프 아피아(Adolphe Appia, 1862~1928년)의 작품들과 스케치에서 영감을 받았다. 그가 강조하는 공간의 배치, 풍경, 빛을 중심으로 풀어가는 장치들과 배우들을 쿠어의 샵에 오는 고객들이라고 상상하고 조닝을 구성했다. 아돌프 아피아의 상징성과 은유를 본떠 자연을 실내에 은유적으로 표현하고자 하였다. 거대한 암석과 나무 조각, 오후의 빛에 반사되는 금색 빛 물결, 천정에 들어오는 햇빛의 표현들.

Coor store is a fashion retail space in the Hyundai Seoul, a newly built shopping mall of a mammoth-like scale.

 

The design narrative of Coor is a metaphorical translation of Adolf Appia’s works. Adolf was a Swiss architect as well as an exhibition desiger, whose works were mainly dramatic theatre-like space with dichotomonous features.

 

His design vocabularies delved into spatial compositions, scenary, and contrasts between light and shadow. Unravel melds these threee key elements and their sources of design inspirations: abstraction of formal as well as tactile qualities from the nature. The space resembles an energetic stage with actors dancing around central figures.

 

Giant rugged rocks, wood chips. Lazy shadow casted by the behemoth, brutalistic sculpture, harshly melded by the artisans… and golden waves of reflection from the afternoon light …. Coor store is an amalgam of nature and artificiality under time.
